You’ll never find a quark at a singles bar. They prefer to spin in threes, each dressed in a different colour.
An unstable quark might pair up with an antiquark. Such couplings never last long. With luck, you may catch a quark on the rebound.
Keep a count of the W-bosons in your vicinity. Quarks are notorious for hooking up with them on a whim, and dumping them just as thoughtlessly. They don’t mean anything by it, but it does change their flavour.
Ignore the rumours of tetraquarks and pentaquarks. Involvement with these exotic hadrons is only for the adventurous, and is strongly discouraged. When you’ve got your quark, find out if it is up, down, strange, charm, top, or bottom. It doesn’t matter to them, they’re not fussy, but you shouldn’t confuse your charmed bottom with your double bottom. No-one knows what that might lead to.
